BELIEVER, DAUGHTER, SISTER, FRIEND, STUDENT, ADVOCATE, PUNDIT

I was born on January 5, 1993, in Trenton, New Jersey and was raised in various southern New Jersey towns throughout my childhood. I graduated from Delsea Regional High School in 2011 and was fortunate enough to be given the prestigious Faculty Bowl award at the ceremony. Now, as a student in Cornell's School of Industrial and Labor Relations, I continue to feed my passion -- human rights -- which has been of high interest to me since grade school.

Cornell Ventures

I was accepted into the Intensive Arabic Program with hopes of becoming fluent in Arabic before I graduate in 2015. Once arriving at Cornell, I began blogging for the Daily Sun's "The Hill" and became a freelance writer for IvyInsidr, a site for students who seek advice on attending top-tier colleges. I am also a staff writer focused on human rights for IMARA, a student-run magazine dedicated to women of color. I currently work as an an ambassador to Balch Hall's Womyn's Center, a place where residents can rent supplies and entertainment. As of now, I am a member of Cornell Amnesty and Les Femmes de Substance. This coming year, I will be a residential advisor for the multicultural dorm, Ujamaa, and a mentor for the Cornell Women's Resource Center.

Extracurricular

After nearly a year of college-level policy debate with Cornell's Forensic Society, I decided to move on to another type of debate: political writing. Now, as a pundit for PolicyMic, I can fulfill one of my dreams: becoming a journalist. In the future, I hope to write for more online news sites. One thing I love to do in my spare time is be creative. My younger sister, Savannah, and I created Official Church Lady Productions where we bring comedic entertainment to Christian culture.

Volunteer Work

I continually strive to be of service to others whenever the opportunity arises. From simply helping my neighbors to serving my church community - Life Assembly Ministries for Christ in Camden, New Jersey - I enjoy expressing my compassion for others.

Career goals

Who am I

“Be the change you want to see in the world.”

- Mahatma Gandhi

Philippians 2:3-7
3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. 4 Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. 5 Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, 7 but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.
